Recently, Facebook removed four pages run by the conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

While explaining their decision, they pointed out that the channels were repeatedly going against the site’s policies of hate speech and bullying. This decision to complete take off four pages is one of the strongest that Facebook has taken against Jones. Previously, it removed four of his videos and issued his profile a 30-day suspension notice. But this barely had any effect on Jones or his associates who kept uploading new content. The four pages that Facebook took off included the Alex Jones Channel Page, the Alex Jones Page, the Infowars Page, and the Infowars Nightly News Page.

Facebook posted a blog titled ‘Enforcing Our Community Standards’ explaining its decision of removing the his pages. The company said the pages were unpublished not because they gave out fake news. But because it violated their company’s community standards. Especially their rules against bullying and hate speech. According to Facebook, Alex Jones’ four pages were taken down for glorifying violence. As well as for using dehumanizing language for transgenders, Muslims and immigrants.

While Facebook’s decision was not connected to Apple’s, the company has also removed Jones’ content.

Moreover, iTunes and Podcasts App have removed the Infowars podcasts. While issuing a statement for this, Apple claimed that the company did not tolerate hate speech. Among the podcasts that Apple removed, there was War Room and the popular Alex Jones Show podcast. Even when Apple did not host the conspiracy theorist’s show, it offered an index that allowed anyone with an iPhone to subscribe to it.

After Apple and Facebook, YouTube quickly followed suit. Alex’s channel on YouTube had almost 2.5 million subscribers and more than a billion views altogether. YouTube has taken down majority of the videos added on his channel, if not all. YouTube shared that they had to terminate the accounts because harassment and hate speech policies were continually violated.

So now that almost all popular social media platforms have banned him, he has Twitter and Periscope available to host his shows.
