What’s a better way of spreading a good cause by giving out free ice creams? Häagen-Dazs has done the trick here with its Free Cone Day! All US location stores of Häagen-Dazs decided to distribute free ice creams from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday. Wait, what do they want in return? Nothing, but just your attention to the plight of bees.
This ‘Free Cone Day‘ does not require anything from you. You don’t have to sign up, or download applications, or even provide your email addresses. You don’t even have to do something challenging like make sense of anything that the Kardashian family does! Just visit any Häagen-Dazs outlet store in the US, and avail your free cone. They are providing these free scoops of ice cream in cups, sugar cones or cake cones. ‘Free Cone Day‘ lets you have one ice cream scoop per person though.
Wondering why the company is being so generous? It is the 10th anniversary of Häagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees Initiative. This campaign is dedicated to raising awareness towards the declining population of honey bees, and to raise funds in order to help reverse this situation. Ever since 2008, Häagen-Dazs has been working towards taking measures to control the colony collapse disorder of bees.
With the Free Cone Day, Häagen-Dazs is encouraging all participants to make donations to Xerces Society. This society is attempting to plant one million acres of habitats for bees. The company has also assisted in plantations for pollinator habitats on farms. It has also donated more than $1 million for bee research education.
Indeed Häagen-Dazs has been working towards a great cause, but surely not without an ulterior motive. Reality is that more than 1/3 of ice cream flavors offered by Häagen-Dazs rely on bees. So technically, Free Cone Day is necessary to make sure that the company stays in business forever!
But, who is a free cone hurting after all? The hardest choice is on you though; is it going to be a cup, a sugar cone or a cake cone?
