World’s Strongest Man – ‘The Mountain’ From Game Of Thrones

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, the actor who plays ‘The Mountain’ on favorite TV show Game of Thrones, took part in the 2018 World’s Strongest Man Competition. The competition was held in Philippines, and ‘The Mountain’ participated in it seven consecutive times. The Game of Thrones actor finally accomplished it this time and has a new title- World’s Strongest Man 2018.

Björnsson shared a picture of himself on social media where he was standing at the podium with his award. ‘The Mountain’ is the first athlete and actor to win three such competitions in one year. With a physique of 6-foot-9 and 397-pound, ‘The Mountain’ has acquired the titles for World’s Strongest Man, Europe’s Strongest Man, and the Arnold Strongman Classic.

‘The Mountain’ also thanked his friends, family, fans, sponsors and coach for helping him attain the World’s Strongest Man title. His caption read,

The Game of Thrones actor first won the qualifying group on Sunday in Manila. He was then victorious in the Vehicle dead-life, Overhead Press and Loading Race, which made him win the complete challenge. According to reports, in the last challenge, the Game of Thrones star was on the fifth position, but still had enough points to succeed overall. ‘The Mountain’ was able to place 4/5 360-pound stones on a platform within 41 seconds.

Since 2011, Björnsson has been entering the competition each year. For the past two years, ‘The Mountain’ bagged the second place before finally earning the title in 2018.

The World’s Strongest Man posted an update on social media, sharing the picture of ‘The Mountain’ as the winner.

While celebrating his victory online, the Game of Thrones star made a slight attempt at winning the hearts of his female fans. He captioned a picture of himself carrying a 150-kg sandbag saying,

Running with 150kg/330lb sandbag like nothing. Tag your friends that would like to be carried by me! Maybe 2-3 girls at the same time?

‘The Mountain’ truly deserved this title added to his name, and it’s time to give the Lannister enemies something to watch out for!
